When it comes to the uniform and overall look some guys have good style and some couldn't buy a clue. Some guys try way too hard and some don't care enough. I have more respect for the guy who doesn't try rather than the guy who wants to get noticed. There are some really good looks in baseball but there are also terrible looks. There's no exact equation for a good look but I've decided to put together a list of "tough looks" which will most likely bring a "c'mon bro or alright bro" from our dugout and will land you on the "Suckbag Squad". Sometimes it's just the uniforms fault and you can't do anything about it. But most bad looks are decided by accessories.
1. Batting Gloves For Your Batting Gloves
Why would you do this to yourself? Why would you ever have two pairs of batting gloves? I didn't know people did this outside of Little League but we saw it last weekend. You really have batting gloves in your back pockets while also wearing batting gloves? I can't even come close to an explanation.
2. Sunglasses at Night
Unfortunately, I'm not talking about the song. It's 9 o'clock at night and you still have your sunglasses on top of your hat. This is an acceptable act during the daytime but not at night. Put them in your bag or give them to someone on the bench.
3. Pants
I'm talking about a couple different looks here. Pants over the cleats so the last spike tears through the pants is an awful look. How can you move like that? Pants over the cleat is a great look especially with tailored pants but don't pull it over the heel. Tweeners can be rocked but only by throwback players. These are the guys you should stay away from if the benches clear. It's like a guy with a ponytail... it screams stay away because I've killed for less.
4. Under Armour Heat Gear
This just simply boggles my mind. How are sleeves going to keep you cool? Under Armour is basically trying to reinvent the wheel with this idea. Heat gear shouldn't even be bought much less worn.
5. Huge Elbow Guard
You're not Barry Bonds so don't try to be. It doesn't make you look intimidating and how often do you really get hit there? Just turn and get hit in the back.
Evan Longoria has a great overall look... possibly the best in the bigs. Does anyone have a better look?
